A well-executed place brand can have a significant impact on the perception of a specific location, whether a town, region, or even a country. The way a place presents itself through signage, wayfinding, print and online can have a direct impact on tourism and economic growth and helps to foster a sense of pride among locals.
Collaboration between various stakeholders, including local governments, businesses, and citizens, is essential to ensure an authentic and consistent representation of the place’s values and offerings. By highlighting unique cultural, historical, economic, or environmental characteristics.
At Overt we have been lucky enough to collaborate with several of our favourite local places to design eye-catching place brands which showcase their best qualities and build energy and pride in what makes their corner of the world unique.
Here’s some of our favourites…
Shepton Mallet Town Council
New Shepton Mallet Town Council branding. The design process was kicked off by a series of brand discovery workshops and incorporated new signage, events graphics and the development of their ‘Hello Shepton” tourism brand. We also produced a comprehensive brand guidelines pack to help keep visual focus and consistency across multiple platforms and stakeholders.

Radstock Town Council
New Radstock Town Council branding. This project started with a bright new visual identity for the council, and then developed into a new town map and a series of versatile graphic ’tiles’ celebrating key features of the town. Next came series of maps in association with BANES council with the aim of encouraging walking and cycling across the town. We also designed a ‘Love Radstock” tourism and events brand and a new identity for their community Hub and Library. Finally, we produced a brand guidelines pack to help keep visual focus and consistency across multiple platforms and stakeholders.

Bradford on Avon Town Council
Bradford on Avon Town Council commissioned Marc Bessant design to create a new logo for the council and develop their ‘Explore BoA’ visitors and events brand. We then worked with Marc to develop a town map for use in a new visitors guide. Since then we have worked extensively with the council to create a series of events, graphics and maps which help to reinforce their brand and promote the town to locals and vistors.
